How Did the Movie Matrix: Reloaded Inspire Me?

In my Thursday 13 blog post titled Movie Lists Fun (Childhood Favorites, Comfort Movies, All-Time Favs), I shared lists of movies, including my all-time favorite movies. Next to several of those movie titles there had been an asterisk, indicating that those films had inspired/influenced me as a writer.

The Movies:

Pitch Black

UltraViolet

Matrix: Reloaded

Van Helsing

Gothika

Once a month, I am going to highlight one of those movies and reveal how it inspired/influenced me.

This month's movie is...

Matrix: Reloaded

How did it inspire me?

1) When Neo says, "Trinity, I know you can hear me. I'm not letting go. I can't. I love you too damn much."

2) Trinity's pose when she lands after jumping off her motorcycle AND her scorpion kick.

3) The Title

"I love you too damn much."

*swoon*

1) Those six words have inspired me more than any other six words ever have. So much so that both of my main characters in my Secret Book Baby Series say similar words in Book 1.

FMC Example: No, I can’t lose [name redacted] now. I love him too damn much.

MMC Example: “I love you too damn much to stay away.”

2) The FMC in my series performs a scorpion kick in Book 2, in honor of Trinity, and she lands similarly in an action sequence because that pose is *chef's kiss*.

3) As for the title inspiring me...

Book 3 in my unpublished series is set in the future. A spin-off story once that series completes is set during Book 3's timeline, but it is different because of something that happens in the conclusion of BOOK 4 that changes those events for the MMC. So, the spin-off is his story and what he remembers, but it is duo POV.

What does that mean? It's Book 3 reloaded. Uh-huh. The title contains Book 3's title and the words "Reloaded." That's a nod to Keanu's film.

  2. Sounds like it was a good movie that inspired you. I've only seen the original Matrix.
