Keep Writing with Fey is COMING!

Keep Writing with Fey will release on July 14th!

I have two opportunities for you if you'd like to help with my release.

1. Blog Hop

Share your story about writer's block, depression, and/or burnout and how you overcame it or what you are currently doing to heal.

Blog Hop Day: August 5th IWSG Day (I thought this would make it easier for participants of both hops.) NOTE: I will send you all the information about my book for the post 2 weeks before.

Sign up for the BLOG HOP here:

2. Book Blasts

If you can host me on your blog or post to Facebook, fill out the below Google form. The book blast will consist of the blurb, cover art, links, my bio, and author photo. No excerpt.

AUTHOR’S NOTE

When I shared my story about depression and writer’s burnout, I received many emails, comments, and Facebook messages from other writers thanking me for my bravery and telling me about their own trials. That really put into perspective for me how many people suffer from depression and/or burnout in silence. I had no idea those individuals were impacted by these things, just as they hadn’t known that I was, because my outward presence to others was always happy and smiley and bright.

After the supportive response and upon realizing how many writers in my online circles were struggling, too, I wanted to do something to help. I was candid with my experiences and blogged about the things that assisted me through the rough times in the hope that it would aid others.

During this time, I recognized the need for writers to receive support, guidance, tips, reminders, and encouragement during their writer’s block, depression, and burnout. That’s how I got the idea for this book. A book not just about depression or only about writer’s block, but both, and much more.

Since you have picked up this book, that means you may need assistance with one or all of these areas, and I sincerely hope you find what you need here…that tiny spark to get you through whatever you are going through.

As always, keep writing.

Keep believing.

Keep dreaming.

Chrys Fey

  2. Burn out is a real struggle. I faced it a few years ago when dealing with mom's dementia and stepdad's failing health and death. I really struggled to find the time and energy for writing - even though I knew it would help me process and deal with it all.
    Congrats on the book!

  3. The grieving process has definitely made writing both a challenge and a relief, a blessing when I can pull it off. I have a history of something approaching depression, at least (SAD?), and I’m currently clinging to creativity as a way to stay out of that place.

  6. I disagree about there being no such thing as writer's block. I explain why in my book. ;) And burnout can come and go, but sometimes it's so strong and destructive that it doesn't just leave. This happened to me. My burnout last for a year and stopped me from writing.

And I'll host you on my Standing Into Danger blog a couple of days later. I've preordered your book, so hopefully I'll have had a chance to read most of it. Good luck!

  30. Wow, to be able to put together such a thorough book is impressive! How did you know to do that? I suppose I lack confidence when it comes to nonfiction books or holding workshops. I feel like I don't have authority in that. Fiction makes for a great mask!

I've joined your bloghop! It's been a very long time since I've been in one, so forgive me if I trip this one up!

    1. Well, I first did it with Write with Fey, and I knew to do that because a few people said having my marketing posts in a book would help so many people. I'd wanted to create a book of my blog posts before then, but their words encouraged me to actually do it. So, I knew I just had to do it again with these topics. :)

Thank you so much for signing up!

  34. Congratulations on your new release, Chrys! The table of contents sounds so interesting. I've had writer's block once, but it wasn't that I didn't know what to write--more that I just couldn't "make" myself. My eight-year relationship had ended, and even though it was my decision, it was so painful.

That was absolutely the worst summer. Then my ex suggested I talk to one of my characters about how I was feeling. I thought that sounded pretty dumb, but then one day I got so desperate, I tried it. I just opened a Word doc and acted like I was chatting with Jackson from the GhostWriters series. The weird thing was, it really did feel like someone was there, providing the answers. As strange as it may sound, it worked!

That making ourselves write during tough times is the hardest.

I love that technique! I'll have to try it the next time I'm blocked, which hopefully won't be for a good long time.

As I was reading J.H. Moncrieff (above), I remembered being told to speak to myself in the third person. I did that and the power and wisdom I felt was awesome. Thank you for inspiring us with personal examples and solutions.
Thank you for visiting my blog and I apologize for taking weeks to reply. Lately, there's been an army with impatient demands on my time.
