Write with Fey Book: I am excited to publish this book with Freedom Fox Press. It has been in the works since my very first blog post. For a long time, many of you have said how handy it would be to have my posts together in a book. Well, now they will be! All of the articles in the book have more details and additional tips that you won't find on my blog. Also, there are 11 articles never before published.
I'll keep everyone updated as Write with Fey, the book, comes closer to publication day.

Holiday Shopping: Looking for hand-crafted gifts for your loved ones? Do you love to support small businesses? Check out my mom's brand new website where she is selling her bookmarks (and soon some knitted baby blankets). Read the ordering details and surprise the book lovers in your life with these gifts from the heart.
I even did a video to promote them. It was a little tricky. LOL!
Book Event: I went to a local book event on November 18th. MJ Fifield was also in attendance. And I finally sold some books! I think I've mastered the "sales pitch" and the deal I offer readers, which is buying one print book (Seismic Crimes) for $10 and getting a free ebook (Hurricane Crimes). Since Hurricane Crimes is the first story of my series but only in digital format, I had to figure out a way to get readers to want to buy the print books on my table. And two print books (Seismic Crimes and Tsunami Crimes) is $15...a $5 discount. And they still get the free eBook. It worked, too! I'll test it out again at the BIG book event I'll be attending June 2018.
QUESTION: Do you like bookmarks? Do you have a special deal for readers at book events?
Congratulations on your upcoming book.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool your mom makes bookmarks.
Thank you! :)
DeleteCongrats on the upcoming release! Awesome that you got the sales pitch down too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It took a couple of events to figure out what to say for my sales pitch.
DeleteCongrats on your upcoming book and that your sales pitch work.
ReplyDeleteI'm a book lover but it's finally came through to some family/friends I'd like to receive a book(s) for Christmas. I like bookmarks too so will be letting people know about that other book lover alternative gift.
Thanks!
DeleteI love all sorts of book lover gifts. :)
Congrats on your upcoming release! I have a bookmark which I always use when I read "real" books, which doesn't happen all that often anymore since my Kindle came into my life.
ReplyDeleteThanks! For a Kindle, cute little bookmarks are needed, which is sad. Wouldn't it be cool if Kindle had a tool where readers could pick a digital bookmark to use?
DeleteCongrats on your upcoming release!!! How very exciting! Seeing the lovely bookmarks makes me want to read real books again instead of just the electronic ones.
ReplyDeleteI adore real books. I have two bookcases...and need a third. So I always have bookmarks ready.
DeleteCongrats on your new book, I'm sure it will be a success.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Thank you, Yvonne!
DeleteCongrats on the new book. Sounds fabulous. Congrats to your mother too. I wish her much luck in her new endeavor.

Thank you, Sherry!
DeleteYour new book sounds like a great resource!
ReplyDeleteI love bookmarks. I have one that looks like a ransom letter, with the text something like, "Help! Help! I can't move! It's very dark and the pages are heavy. Please read more. It gets boring stuck between the same pages."
Thanks!
DeleteThat sounds like such a cute bookmark. Clever.
Congratulations on the new book! It sounds great and will be very helpful to aspiring writers. And I do like bookmarks, especially when bookstores give them out for free when you buy a new book. I also like the ones that have the ribbon or colored string at the ends.
ReplyDeleteMy mom will be making braided bookmarks with tassel-like string at the ends. :)
DeleteCongrats on your upcoming book, Chrys! This will be a fabulous hand book for us writers. Awesomeness!! Will it be in both print and e-book format?
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, it’ll be available in print and eBook format. :)
DeletePerfect!
DeleteNow I know why I see all the bookmarks on your Instagram.
ReplyDeleteThe sales pitch is always tricky. It was almost easier for me when it was just my books. For some events, when it's slow and everyone is just poking at the books, I almost want to say "Just buy the damn book!" LOL
Yup. I’ve been posting about her bookmarks everywhere I could think of, like Instagram.
DeleteI have those moments, too. lol
Congrats on the book. I already am planning on purchasing a few as gifts for some aspiring writers. Your mom is talented. Wish her best of luck.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! Thank you!!
DeleteCongratulations on your new book! Another blogger friend, Charles Gramlich, who writes in the fantasy and horror genres in addition to academic writing, has also published a book on writing that I found very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI’ll have to look for his book. Thanks for the tip!
DeleteCongrats on the book. And congrats to your mom, too. Having a deal like that is an excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCongrats on your book deal, Chrys. Your book sounds awesome! And I really your mom's bookmarks too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Natalie!
DeleteIf you have a blog packed with sound advice, why not turn it into a book? I did something like that around critiquing, which started life as a series of blog posts. I hope it does well for you!
ReplyDeleteExactly! Doing this has been a dream of mine. :) Thank you!
DeleteCongratulations Chrys on your upcoming book.
ReplyDeleteIn school I had made a few bookmarks.
Thank you!
DeleteI wish I had my mom’s talent, but I’m not good with sewing or knitting needles.
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI ordered a book mark. I plan to give it to my sister for Christmas...I may regret not keeping it myself!
Aw. Thank you, Elizabeth! I hope your sister loves it. :)
DeleteI do like bookmarks. I've had some made with the cover and blurb of a few of my books on them and give these out at events. I'm not entirely sure this promotes sales, but it's possible.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a good way idea. It’s good promo.
DeleteYour new book sounds exciting and informative. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteYour mother's work looks lovely. Good for her. You're quite the talented family. Best wishes to both of you.
Thank you! I got my talent from my mom. :)
DeleteCongrats on the upcoming book. I'll have to pick it up when it's out.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
DeleteWoohoo, congrats on the upcoming release! That sounds like a ton of great info from cover to cover, and it's awesome that you included those 100 marketing tips (which are gold even if you do know how to properly formulate a story).
ReplyDeleteThank you! Marketing tips was the main thing I looked for when I was starting out.
DeleteI do like bookmarks and collect them. I've been following all your moms creative ones on Instagram and love them.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new book!
Thanks for following my posts on Instagram. I follow you, too, and love your photos.
DeleteThank you!!
Congrats, Chrys. You'll blow them out of the water. :-)
