Every once in a while I’m doing something a little different. This is a "What Would You Do?" feature. I’m asking a question related to one of
my books. You can give me realistic answers or silly answers.
UPDATE: Months ago I had made images out of some answers and shared a few on Twitter and Instagram. That took too long, though, so I created a fun page on my website with my favorite responses. Check it out: What Would You Do?

Blurb:
After her car breaks down, Beth Kennedy is forced to stay
in Florida, the target of Hurricane Sabrina. She stocks up supplies, boards up
windows, and hunkers down to wait out the storm, but her plan unravels when she
witnesses a car accident. Risking her life, she braves the winds to save the
driver. Just when she believes they are safe, she finds out the man she saved
could possibly be more dangerous than the severe weather.
Donovan Goldwyn only wanted to hide from the police, but
the hurricane shoved his car into a tree. Now he's trapped with a beautiful
woman while the evidence that can prove his innocence to a brutal crime is out
there for anyone to find.
As Hurricane Sabrina wreaks havoc, Beth has no other
choice but to trust Donovan to stay alive. But will she survive, or will she
become another hurricane crime?
QUESTION: Imagine
you’re trapped with a suspected murderer during a hurricane, like Beth in
Hurricane Crimes.
What would you do?
A
few more questions to help you:
- Would
you try to escape?
- How would
you attempt to escape?
- Would
you try to take on the suspected murderer?
- How
would you do it?
Leave your answer and invite others to leave their
answer. :)
Maybe try to knock him out by putting something in a nice drink like a smoothie while he's using the bathroom? I just really would not want to be in that situation. It depends what kind of killer he is. If he is a rapist murderer...sorry but while someone is bending over to take something out of the fridge I'm unleashing the cutlass. No idea if you're framed bro? Got to look out for mines.
ReplyDeleteBeth tries to knock him out with a candlestick holder. HAHA Putting something in a drink would've been smart.
DeleteI think I would want to try to stay awake as long as I could and probably man myself with some type of weapon. I think too I might just want to talk to the person, see if I can figure out if they can be trusted, etc.
ReplyDeletebetty
Smart thinking. I wouldn't want to fall asleep and fall prey either.
DeleteI would make sure I'd stay awake at all costs for a start. Having said that we had a bad hurricane many years ago and it was terrifying. As someone else suggested perhaps something to make HIM sleep instead.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week-end.
Yvonne.
I love that you guys are suggesting to make the bad guy go to sleep somehow. Great thinking!
Deleteif he looked like Hugh Jackman, I would stick around and bat my blue eyes at him...killer, shmiller. I would have to figure out what kind of killer he is...is he a psycho who hears voices and is looking at me thinking I am his demented mother or is he a killer for the mob who is just in the wrong place at the wrong time like me. If he is the next Jack The Ripper, I would play along until I found something very heavy and skull crushing and whack him. If he is a killer just hiding out, I might take my chances...might.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA!!!! Who cares if he's a killer if he looks that good, right? lol
DeleteProbably just about what your heroine did. Be scared. Be cautious. Try to find out if this guy was a killer. Not sure about jumping into the sack with him, but who knows what fear will do to your judgement? Makes for a good story though.
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Well, at the moment she didn't think he was a killer. Then she did. Then she didn't. :p
DeleteWhack him over the head with the nearest thing and knock his arse out. Can figure out the rest later.
ReplyDeleteYou think like my MC. ;)
DeleteWould playing dumb work? Probably not if he was in the room when she learned the news? Then again, blonds can usually get away with it, can't they? I like Pat's answer, hit him over the head, tie his ass up and wait it out! :)
ReplyDeleteBlondes might. But the two of us probably wouldn't be able to play dumb. We're too smart for that. ;)
Deletea suspect is never necessarily guilty, to much garbage out there, so i would risk the time with him
ReplyDeleteYou're right he's just a suspected murderer not a convicted murderer.
Delete#1. Don't let them know I suspect them of murder. Don't even let on that I have any inkling that the suspicion is out there.
ReplyDeleteThen it would just be a matter of waiting out the storm. Once I could get away, then I would. But until then, play it cool. Unless the killer is a serial killer and I fit the profile, a murderer is only going to kill if it becomes necessary. If I play dumb, it's not necessary.
Play it cool is a good idea.
DeleteHm, it depends on how it plays out. If I find out in front of the killer, I have to neutralize them when I can. If I suspect or know, but they don't know I know, I'll just be wary and well armed until I have a reason to act. I certainly wouldn't turn my back on them.
ReplyDeleteMy MC finds out in front of the killer so you can only imagine what happens next.
DeleteI kept yelling at her to stay in the house when I read the book. But faced with the same situation... Well, if it wasn't someone I knew, I don't think I would go out and help them. I have to think of my safety first. Then again, you don't have a story under that scenario, so I think you handled it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI love it that you yelled at Beth. ;) Thank you, Denise!
DeleteCall 911. But in light of the fact there was a hurricane outside, Beth likely wouldn't get a police officer very quickly to her door. I might fake a crying fit and pretend my pet was lost outside and see if he would go look then I would lock him out---LOL. Not the best plan. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh. That is my favorite response yet. Pretending your pet ran outside. Very creative and smart.
DeleteWith the storm raging outside, I figure the only thing he'll be killing inside is time. Try as I might to make the best of a highly charged situation, the roof caves in; forcing us out into the torrent where together we save a couple more people before we're swept away as one, into the depths of emotion and an unrelenting storm. We awaken entwined as branches tossed in a reckless wind, beneath an abandoned ice cream truck that drips something I hope he likes before we say good-bye. (I haven't read the story yet).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration! These little excursions are always good for snapping the muse's head around "Wait, what? That's not what we've been working on!"
Ha! Well, it's kind of funny that you mentioned ice cream that you hope he likes because there's a scene like that in Seismic Crimes. ;)
DeleteI would ask them if they did it :)
ReplyDeleteGood, simple answer! ;)
DeleteHmm...I'd get all Murder She Wrote and keep the person talking about their crimes until I was able to get the hell out of the situation.
ReplyDeleteI like to think that I would be the same way in this situation. ;)
