What Would You Do...? (Part 1)

Every Friday for the month of February I’m doing something a little different. This is a four-week "What Would You Do?" feature. I’m asking a question related to one of my books, and I might do something with your answers. ;)

You can give me realistic answers or silly answers.

The first question relates to 30 Seconds.

Blurb:

When Officer Blake Herro agreed to go undercover in the Mob, he thought he understood the risks. But he's made mistakes and now an innocent woman has become their target. He's determined to protect her at all costs.

The Mob's death threat turns Dr. Dani Hart's life upside down, but there is one danger she doesn’t anticipate. As she's dodging bullets, she's falling in love with Blake. With danger all around them, will she and Blake survive and have a happy ending, or will the Mob make good on their threat?

QUESTION: In 30 Seconds the Mob is after Blake and Dani. What would you do if the Mob were after you?

A few more questions to help you:
- Where would you go?
- Who would you trust?
- What precautions would you take for your safety?

Leave your answer and invite others to leave their answer. :)

  1. I read this book and it was exciting. Okay, I'd try to get to the police station. If that wasn't possible, I'd crawl under the bed and hope they didn't look there. I'd trust the police, my family, and my cats, but no one else. I'd lock all the doors and windows, (like that would make a difference)and call 911. And get a ferocious dog.

    1. I'm sure they'd check under beds as that's the first place people think of to hide. A ferocious dog is good. And the police is the obvious smart choice.

  2. Ok...I would get out of town so I have time to think...I would trust no one...I would change my looks...I would get a weapon, a dog, and a hot hero. LOL

  3. Hmmm. I would disappear and move to a new city. I would trust only two people, my husband and step son.

    1. Trusting no one (save for a couple) seems to be the consensus.

    2. This is a fun one, Chrys. You can tell the mystery/crime writers because they all know exactly how to avoid the mob---LOL

  4. Trust my dad and hide at his place. He's ex-lawman so I am good!!!

    1. Yes! An ex-lawman for a dad is a built-in protector. Nice.

  5. Hmm... Depends on what I have to lose. If I'm alone, I would change the way I look and move out into the middle of nowhere.

If not... I'd probably sleep with a gun under my pillow, check for traps and cut brakes etc...

    1. Checking for traps and cut brakes is a good idea. The Mob would utilize all of those.

  6. I'd probably just have a heart attack from fright so I wouldn't have to worry about going anywhere or protecting myself. The trust one is easy though - I'd only trust my family. But I wouldn't want to put them in danger so I don't know if I'd say anything to them anyway.
    Fun feature, Chrys!

    1. Having a heart attack and taking yourself out would save the Mob from having to do it. lol

  7. I'd find someone like Raymond Reddington from "The Blacklist" and have him give me a new name. lol

  8. Firstly, I'd be terrified, then I'd go and find myself a bodyguard and probably go into hiding:)

  9. Take a sabbatical from my job and go hide out somewhere in the countryside.

    1. Just think of all the writing time you'd have. ;)

  10. I'm pretty sure I'd panic and while doing so the mob hitman would get me and that'd be the end of that.

  11. I'd run far far away, get a disguise, take all my cash out of the bank and lie low forever.

  12. I live out in the middle of nowhere, so there is plenty of places to hide. I might go back to a "hideout" in the woods behind my old house...Except, I think that might also be the rumored mountain lion's hideout. Maybe the mountain lion will get the mob before they get me, lol :)

    1. A mountain lion...good defense. I think the lion would take care of the snooping Mob for you.

  13. Yikes, why would the mob be after me? I do nothing. I've structured my life so that the mob can't find me.

But... If I could find a way to talk my way out of it, I would. Perhaps find a way to make them realize that it's not really me they want. It's just a terrible mistake.

    1. LOL. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time like Dani in 30 Seconds could have the Mob after you. The Mob after her wouldn't have listened to anything she said, they would've killed her anyway.

  14. I would go completely under the radar-no credit cards, no usual places where I would go and I would stay away from anyone who would know me since they would be tracking me. I would change my hair colour and carry very little with me. I would think of taking some self-defense course but one where you play dirty and I would arm myself...better them than me. I would tell my husband who would take the Al Pacino approach..."Say hello to my little friend!"

    1. Going under the radar would be a good idea. Erase yourself. Ha! Your husband would be great to have on your side.

  15. I would go underground, the only person I would have been able to trust is my dad. I would make sure I was unrecognizable and would not make the mistake of contacting any of my friends and relatives, thus leaving no trail of clues which can lead up to me.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Smart. Especially the no contacting friends or relatives as the Mob could be watching and listening to them.

  16. Man, that's a really good question. I have no idea what I'd do. I guess I'd go to the police and enter the witness protection program, but even then, they can find you. Good excuse to sell my house and travel the world as much as I can for as long as I can.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Witness Protection is a great idea, but as you said...they still have their ways of finding you even while in that program. Traveling would definitely be the upside.

  17. Head out into the wilderness and hang low and wait for things to blow over...

    1. Oh and I know you'd be able to do that and survive.

  18. If the mob was after me, I'd RUN. I'd grab my husband and my baby and just go as far as possible. Besides, I've always fantasized about changing my identity and starting over. That might be a valid excuse for it. ;)

    1. A very valid excuse. Go find a Mob and get on their bad side so you can. LOL Kidding.

  19. If the mob were after me, I'd hire someone like Blake to teach me how to look after myself. I might have to hide out whilst I learn survival tactics and then head home. Bring 'em on :):) But running would be out of the question coz basically, I can't run :)

  20. I would ask my hubby, he is good in situations like this. I fear for the mob:)

  21. I'd surprise them when they showed up, jump out of the closet, present my t'chi pose, and yell, "Aargh!"

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not wanting to put Blake in further in danger I would flee into the night alone; certain I would be followed to the nearest cemetery where I'd activate my trusty spirit-waking whistle. While the mobsters were busy fending of angry ghouls, Blake and I would be happily jetting off to ever-after-land!

    1. Haha! Oh my goodness. That is by far my favorite answer.

  23. Probably have a heart attack from shear fear.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If I thought the mob was after me, I'd probably take self-defense classes and also start training at a boxing gym (which is actually something I've thought about doing before), just in case. I'd also go to the cops and/or the FBI, because they would know how to deal with them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'd have to change my pants because they're most assuredly soiled.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Most thought provoking Chrys, I would certainly have to think this out. Wonderful post.
    Yvonne.

  27. I would try to get into a crowd of people and hide >:)

  28. Ooh, scary question. I'd have to dismantle my entire online presence. But golly, what if they already knew where I lived? I'd have to move. And lose my library...
If the law couldn't help me then I'd have to be really drastic. Move somewhere far away and get a job under the table and live in a converted barn...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Even taking yourself off the Internet they could find out where you live. You'd have to be erased from everythinb. It is scary to think about. Live in converted barn...love that.

  29. If the mob were after me, I would tweet on Twitter and Facebook that I was hiding out at a friends house. The name of the friend I'd list would be the head of another notorious mob. Hoping they'd rub each other out.

    1. HAHA! Using social media to create a false trail and getting two rival mobs to go at each other would sure take the pressure of you.

  30. me and my homies would "take care " of that mob - the mob is old school and we are not!
