Tomorrow is National Cat Day!
If you’ve been to my blog before, you know
that I have four cats. I rescued them two years ago...and not from a shelter. I
rescued them from the dangers of living outdoors. You see, this female cat was
born outside my apartment complex. Her mom left with the other babies but this
one stayed behind. I named her Kitty, fed her, and offered her shelter on my
porch. She had three babies and then four more. Soon after having those four
babies, she left. I took care of her babies from a distance until something
happened and I knew I had to take them in to give them a safe home.
Now those four babies are my babies. I’ve
shared pictures of them before (see: My Cats), so here are the best ones for this past year.
:)

Last Christmas. Milo is the biggest pain in the butt! |
|
Yup, Milo again. |
|
This is Cole. He loves my desk. |
|
Cole is my fatty. :P |
|
Clover likes to look out the window. |
|
And this is Otis. He loves boxes. The box he's sitting on is my
baby shower gift for my new nephew. |
|
"Mom, what are you doing outside?" |
|
"Mom, there's a lizard!" |
|
My boys. Taking up the couch. |
QUESTION: Do you have cats (or a cat)?
Celebrate your cat(s) today (and tomorrow)!
Very cute! I like the ones where they're looking outside.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like those too. Then again, I like them all. ;)
DeleteThey are so cute. And they all look different. Mom must've slept around.
ReplyDeleteI've always had cats and Rocko and Spunky were rescue cats that someone dumped in our neighborhood. Spunky died of cancer earlier this year, but this month marks ten that we've had Rocko.
Yup. She did. LOL! Everyone is always so surprised that they came from the same litter.
DeleteI'm sorry about Spunky. :( But I'm glad you still have Rocko.
Awwwww, they are adorable! That's so sweet you rescued them ALL! Yes, I had a cat. My daughter found a kitten in a window well that mom had left. So, we adopted him. He was the best cat ever (besides your babies, of course :)) He died in 2005 right before my ex and I split. It was very painful. My ex was actually very cruel to the cat, so that's a whole other story but I mention it b/c the cat was really mine and my kids'. We loved him dearly. Happy cat day, Chrys!!
ReplyDeleteI am one of those people who would take in every stray cat if I could. lol I'm sorry that your ex treated the cat bad. If anyone treated my cats cruelly I'd kick their asses! I am super protective of them because they're still scared of people they don't know. They are just now getting used to my nephews who come over after school once or twice a week.
DeleteTwo and they are too much fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from Elements of Writing
LOL!
DeleteToo cute! But I don't know how you deal with four of them! I can barely handle one. :)
ReplyDeleteThese boys can sure be a handful. But I couldn't split them up.
DeleteAww, they are all so cute! I love fatty Cole LOL. I didn't know it was Cat Day so thank goodness I found out in time to celebrate with Nate. He'd never forgive me if I missed it.
ReplyDeleteFatty Cole is my baby...err...my big baby. :P I hope Nate has a good National Cat Day. :)
Deletelol they are sure watching you outdoors. Wow, no room for you left on the couch haha
ReplyDeleteNope, no room at all for me.
DeleteThat was such a sweet story of how you rescued them! I'm glad you stopped that horrid woman from possibly getting them. They are all adorable, look like they all have great personalities :)
ReplyDeletebetty
Thanks, Betty! I couldn't let her get them. Just couldn't.
DeleteHa! They do. Each one of them has a distinct personality. They entertain me. ;)
I've been here several times before but I don't think I recall you saying you have cats. Four of them? Wow, how do you manage? Of all the pets I could own, I think a cat is the one I'd like to have. So cool you rescued the kitties.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I took a stray in and when I was first married I had a cat for a little while. But then my son was born and he was allergic so we had to get rid of the cat. I was very sad to do that. He was a cool cat and used to sit on my shoulder when I wrote on my computer or did dishes. He was funny.
Ha! I have. ;)
DeleteI'd be devastated if I had a child and he/she was allergic to cats. My heart would be torn. I'd have to give my cats to my mom.
She sat on your shoulder? That's too funny!
What a cute collection of fur balls! I like cats but am highly allergic to them, sadly.
ReplyDeleteHappy Cat Day!
Oh no! Good thing pictures of them won't get her allergies going.
DeleteI CAN'T HANDLE THIS lol I am a cat nut...I just adore cats. I have my sweet Penny Belle whom I'm sure you've seen pics of on my twitter or blog. Your babies are gorgeous!!! I want to smush their faces lol
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA! :p
DeleteI have seen pictures of Penny and she is adorable!
Now I'm really glad I included a cat in my post for today. =) Did you end up contributing to that cat anthology a year or so back? The Cat Who Chose Us? That's where this post takes my brain.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/Cat-Who-Chose-other-Stories/dp/1326012940
I did contribute to it. :) The post I mentioned "A Great Kitty Rescue" is in it. :) And I have a copy.
DeleteWhat a delightful cat family! Can't believe they're all boys and seem to get along quite well. The most I've ever had at one time is eleven, when roommate's cat had kittens the same week mine did!
ReplyDeleteMy ballet teacher had over twenty she kept in a huge indoor/outdoor rec room. I absolutely loved spending weekends with them :-)
There was a time a couple of months ago where two started fighting but all is good now.
DeleteGosh, when I had a kid I had more than 11 and 20 cats. I'm embarrassed to say just how many. LOL
Cat heaven! :-)
DeleteExactly. ;)
DeleteI am a dog person, but can appreciate people's love of cats. They look like they have a great life and know it. :-)
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
And I can appreciate people's love of dogs. :D
DeleteAt the moment, I only have stuffed cats. Someday I'd love to have a whole menagerie of many types of animals—cats, dogs, horses, lizards, tortoises, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hermit crabs, pigs, birds.
ReplyDeleteSo you want a farm. :) I would like a couple more pets but my cats are scaredy cats. LOL
DeleteAww love the photos and love cats! We have one at the moment, Tilly she's called. Happy National Cat Day to kitties everywhere.
ReplyDeleteTilly is such a cute name!
DeleteMy husband likes cats, but he's allergic to them. We've adopted two and have had to pass them along to friends of the family because within a few hours, my husband couldn't breathe. At least they are living inside instead of at a gas station or outside of a grocery store (where we got them).
ReplyDeleteOh dear. That would break my heart.
DeleteI never got to have a cat growing up because my dad was highly allergic. Hubby and I keep talking about getting one, but I don't want to go to the shelter because I will want to take ALL of them home and I can't.
ReplyDeleteI would want to take them all home too.
DeleteYour cats are beautiful. I have two, both of them just showed up on my patio one day, not at the same time. Patches came to us in 2006. Tiger adopted us in 2008. Patches is hyper and likes to bully Tiger. Tiger is laid back and runs from her. Tiger was in bad shape when he first appeared. One ear still has a scar and is smaller than the other. The vet did a great job bringing him back to good health. A couple of years ago the vet diagnosed him with FIV. So, I'm very watchful over him. He's such a sweetie. I do try to keep them separated, but it's not easy. I love them both.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Patches and Tiger found their way to your patio. Poor Tiger.
DeleteThey look like great characters! We like cats, but my wife is allergic. With four dogs, I know all about the couch-hogging issue though!
ReplyDeleteSo many are saying they or someone else they know is allergic. Sad.
DeleteOMG your cats are adorable and so funny. Bless you for taking them in. I will have to read about their history after. My hubby and I have 5 cats and 1 dog-all rescued. I am actually the dog person and my hubby the cat person but all animals are wonderful. The dog, Wallace, is from Louisiana, and he looks like a Dingo. He has a phobic fear of the outside and still shakes when he has to go out. The oldest cat, Naddie, was rescued from a barn and was very tiny. My hubby rescued him before I met him. The 2nd , actually, is not a rescue but from a store, my hubby fell in love with her and got her 2 weeks after i met him. She is the Diva. Jade is our lover because she head butts you and sleeps on you purring and licks and licks. She loves licking Wallace who also loves being licked. She was a rescue with more kittens left behind by students. They were so hungry they ate crayons! Poor thing. The next one is our tub of lard, Mia, she is 20 lbs! We got her this way and have tried to get her skinny ever since. The family no longer wanted her and I felt if she was given to the Humane Society, she would have been put down. She hates all the other animals. The last one is just this year. Kaspar! As my hubby says "Kaspar the disaster!" He is so much fun but gets into everything and he is not allowed anywhere near my Christmas tree. He was found on a golf course and was sick when we got him. That is our brood
ReplyDeleteI lovedon't reading this history if your pets and love that both of you brought in these poor babies. I couldn't imagine cats being so hungry they eat crayons. That's heart breaking.
DeleteNope, no cats. No pets at all. My SIL rescued her cats from a dumpster. Yep, someone put a couple kittens in a dumpster.
ReplyDeleteThat is horrible. I don't know how anyone could do that to kittens. Or any animal.
DeleteLOL! Milo and Cole look just like our Tigger and Teevo. I often wonder where those two rascals get to when they go wandering...
ReplyDeleteMilo, Cole, Tigger, and Trevor could be related. :p
DeleteI had a cat that lived to 16... she died and my young daughter's breathing improved, so I haven't gotten another cat
ReplyDeleteMy cat Rosie who I had for 18 years died last year.
DeleteI have a fictitious cat (and an imaginary dog) but no real live pets as we travel so much.
ReplyDeleteYour four look as though they keep you entertained.
Fictitious cats are great. :)
DeleteThey do keep me entertained.
So cute. I want a cat again. Maybe I'll get a shorthair.
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice. :)
DeleteYay, Janie! I didn't know it was National Cat Day. I'll have to do something extra special for Bootsy. Your cats are cute!
ReplyDeleteI bet Bootsy would love something extra special. :)
DeleteHappy Cat Day! I have a cat named Kitty :) I currently have three indoor cats that I featured in a post not too long ago, and one outdoor cat who visits a lot. I love your cat pictures, especially those last two with all four cats, so cute :)
ReplyDeleteAw! Kitty is such a cute name for a cat. :)
DeleteHi Chrys,
ReplyDeleteI just had Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar read me this post of yours. After reading it and looking at the photos, she's now needing a bit of comfort. Poor dog will recover from seeing the cats, I'm sure.
Happy "International" Cat Day :)
Penny's alleged human,
Gary
Tell Penny I apologize for tormenting her.
DeleteMeow! I love cats. I don't know why they insist on jumping on trees that are brought inside. Or trying to eat tinsel. But those are some excellent writing buddies you have there.
ReplyDeleteI know. Cats are silly.
DeleteYour cats are too cute. I've never had a cat and the dog I have right now is my first dog. Most of the pets I've had over the past 20 years have been rodents.
ReplyDeleteRodents make great pets though.
DeleteOtis, Milo, Clover (who reminds me of a cat I used to ... hang out with) and Cole are beautiful, Chrys. I used to have two cats, stray as well. Both passed away (old age) few years ago and I haven't taken any in since.
ReplyDeleteStrays are the best pets. I am one to take in strays all the time.
Delete
